AIDS Ark has developed an informative video about our Baphumelele Hospice in the Home project in South Africa – illustrating the great work being done to ensure that care and treatment reaches people who would otherwise go without and die.
AIDS Ark supports genotype testing for HIV+ children in South Africa, allowing them to access second-line therapies when they develop resistance. Without these tests, they would be unable to secure further treatment and would die of AIDS.
AIDS Ark funds genotype resistance blood tests for children at the Red Cross Hospital in Cape Town.
If children become resistant to their first-line ARVs, they face challenges in securing second-line treatment. The genotype testing allows their carers to make a strong case to get them into the right programme or trial for continued care, as opposed to no care at all.
